Teachers from primary schools were empowered with digital skills

On 22 May 2023,Internet Society Rwanda Chapter concluded a 3-days internet for education workshop that was organised for teachers from primary schools located in Mareba Sector,Bugesera district.

The workshop brought together 49 teachers to discuss how Internet facilitates education and how it can be used to achieve quality education in 21 century. Teachers gained knowledge on computer basics, the role of Internet in education,Internet Essentials and Microsoft Office(Word,Excel and Powerpoint).

We seek to build empowered communities to use the Internet responsibly.

This was announced by Chairperson Emmanuel MFITUMUKIZA during Partners and Stakeholders’ engagement meeting held on 23rd December 2022 at Park Inn by Radisson Hotel.

During this meeting three programs were launched to support and promote development of internet as a global infrastructure and a resource to enrich people’s lives.

The three programs that were officially launched are Internet for Education program that aims at empowering teachers with digital skills that enable them to use computers and Internet in teaching and learning activities, Safer Internet Program that intends to promote a safe and positive use of digital technology, especially among children and young people. The third program, which is Connecting the Unconnected, aims at bridging the digital divide by providing computing devices and Internet connectivity in the unserved and underserved communities.

Safer Internet Day 2022 celebrations in Rwanda

On Tuesday, 8 February 2022 ISOC Rwanda Chapter through Rwanda Safer Internet Day Committee with Safer Internet Day (SID) supporters celebrated the 3rd edition of SID in Rwanda with a theme once again of “Together for a better internet”, the day called upon all stakeholders to join together to make the internet a safer and better place for  children and young people to learn and innovate.

Butereri,on 26 November 2021,District Education Officer in Charge of Secondary and VCT Schools of BUGESERA District, Jean Baptiste Nzayisenga graced inauguration ceremony of Connecting G.S ST TITE BUTERERI Project implemented by ISOC Rwanda Chapter with the purpose of promoting the upbringing of children’s education in Internet Technology as the foundation of knowledge and Excellency.
