The Internet Society Rwanda Chapter works to ensure an open, secure, trustworthy, and accessible Internet for all. Through community-driven initiatives, capacity building, and policy engagement, we empower people, strengthen local connectivity, and promote safe and inclusive Internet use across Rwanda.
Since its inception, our programs have reached over 10,900 individuals, including rural youth, parents, caregivers, teachers and community stakeholders, helping to bridge the digital divide, promote Internet in education, enhance employability, and foster responsible and safe Internet usage.
1.DIGITAL INCLUSION FOR RURAL COMMUNITIES
Millions of people, especially in rural areas, remain unconnected to the Internet. We empower youth and women with community-centered connectivity skills and digital business training to drive socio-economic development.

Key Activities:
- Training rural unemployed youth and women in computer networking to operate community- centered connectivity solutions.
- Providing Internet connectivity for rural communities, schools and refugee camps.
Through these activities, we successfully connected 4 schools to the Internet, established 2 Internet Access Centers, and launched 2 community Internet Kiosks, creating local employment and expanding access to digital services.
2.Safer Internet Program
ISOC Rwanda promotes a safer and better Internet for children, youth, and families through awareness, education, and community engagement on online safety and digital wellbeing.

Key Events and Activities:
- Supporting Safer Internet Clubs in schools.
- Coordinating Safer Internet Day celebrations in Rwanda.
- Hosting Safer Internet Forums.
Through the Safer Internet Program, ISOC Rwanda actively contributed to Rwanda Safer Internet Day Committee initiatives, engaging over 7,330 participants across awareness campaigns, forums, and clubs.
3. Community Empowerment and Capacity Building Program
To help communities use Internet technologies productively, We equip communities with the skills needed to use the Internet productively, safely, and responsibly, from basic digital literacy to advanced technical and business skills.

Our Training includes:
- Community-centered technical Training.
- Online Trust and Safety Training.
- Internet for Education
- Digital Literacy Training
- Digital Parenting
- Digital Business and Entrepreneurship.
Across these initiatives, ISOC Rwanda reached a total of 1,959 individuals, empowering them with essential skills to keep the Internet a force for good in society.
4.Internet Governance
We believe the Internet is a global public resource governed through open, inclusive, and collaborative processes. we collaborate with key stakeholders to promote people-centered and multistakeholder Internet Governance.

The Internet Society Rwanda Chapter support national Internet governance initiatives, including the Rwanda Internet Governance Forum, Rwanda School on Internet Governance and Rwanda Youth Internet Governance Forum.
Over 1,070 participants from diverse background including Government, Private sector, Academia, Civil Society, Tech community and International organisations were engaged in national Internet governance initiatives.
5. Other Activities
ISOC Rwanda promotes a secure, trustworthy, and universally accessible Internet through initiatives focused on encryption, universal acceptance, and building the technical capacity of network operators.

Key initiatives:
- Fostering sustainable technical community such as Rwanda Network Operators Group to enhance local technical expertise.
- Organising Universal Acceptance Day to advance a multilingual, inclusive Internet.
- Observing Global Encryption Day to raise awareness about encryption as a foundation for online security.
Through these initiatives, 424 individuals were engaged, contributing to improved Internet accessibility, cybersecurity, and technical capacity in the local community.
